Pharmacist Gideon Ejika Yusuf |
1.
GOOD DAY SIR, PLEASE CAN WE MEET YOU? WHO IS
GIDEON EJIKA YUSUFU?
Smile, as you had rightly said, my name is Yusufu Ejika
Gideon by way of introduction and with all humility am a Pharmacist by
profession. I’m a Nigerian from Kogi
State to be precise from Igalamela/Odolu local government. I had my early life
in Idah the same Kogi State. By His grace am a graduate of Ahmadu Bello
University,Zaria, kaduna State. It may also interest you to know that I was born
in Kogi State in Ofu Local Government, so you can see am a true Kogite. I’m a
Christian by religion. Currently, am on my one year mandatary internship
training at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.

HOW DID YOU GET HERE? CAN YOU SHARE SOME OF YOUR
LIFE’S STORY WITH US?
Hm! The bible says in Psalm 127:1 “unless the LORD builds
the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the
city, the watchman stays awake in vain. I am what I am today by His grace
because of His everlasting covenant, am nothing but a product of covenant. I find it difficult to explain my success
because it’s subject of divine mysteries, so how can a man understand divine
mysteries?.
Well, life has not been easy, moreover, no one expect that
because from the time of fall of man in the Garden of Eden man became a subject
of ridicule and a prey to the soil. As a growing boy I didn’t find it easy at
all but in all may His name be praised. I wasn’t lucky to be born with silver spoon but I promised myself that I
will definitely die with a Golden spoon not even silver, smile……………………………………………..
I started pushing wheel barrow at a tender age, hawk and
followed brick layers as concrete mixer to raise money for my basic needs, to
pay for extra-moral lessons, to buy text books, etc. my happiness was that God
didn’t allowed that to be in vain as He honoured me with various awards and
recommendations by individuals and organizations. I graduated as the best
student from St. Peter’s college Idah with a honour from late Mr Agbali’s
family.
In the course of my university days as an undergraduate, I
got award of excellence from Professor F.S. Idachaba of blessed memory the
former VC of University of Agriculture Markudi and also Former VC of Kogi State
University for three consecutive times till his death. I was also distinguished by Ahmadu Bello
University Chapel (chapel of Redemptiom ABU, Zaria) for academic excellence
where I received an award of excellence for academic excellence. It has been
God, it is still God and it will be God.
Among the Pharmacists that were inducted on my Oath taking
day, I was privileged to be the best although, I spilled for a semester. Very painful but that was part of life
lessons. I learnt that individuals or any organizations that never fail are
always shallow in thinking.
WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY FOR LIFE?
Life is still life until you make a difference. I believe
life is a journey. The long road makes us wiser (no short cut to life), the
wrong turns makes us stronger, and the unexpected bumps bring us awareness.
Whatever you do never underrate your little beginning and
anybody because it’s only now you know you don’t know the next seconds not even
tomorrow. Let me stop here on this particular aspect. Just be patient with
God’s timing, He never own any man even in His “unfaithfulness” if any which I
don’t think so.
WHAT ELSE DO YOU DO, ASIDE PRACTICING PHARMACY?
Apart from pharmacy I engaged in motivational write up,
encouraging younger human about the tough time of life. I engage in background
polities a lot. The rest is personal.
HOW DO YOU REMAIN FOCUS IN FACE OF SO MANY DISCOURAGEMENT
AND CHALLENGES OF LIFE?
Let me correct a point here that discouragement and
challenges of life are not an excuse to quit but there are life ladder to greatness.
As I said earlier, a man who never faces challenge is a shallow thinker.
This bible verses have kept me in focus; Jeremiah 29:11 “for
I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not
for evil, to give you a future and a hope”, 2corinthians 4:17-18 “for this
momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all
comparism, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that
are not unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that
are unseen are eternal”
My anchor is in the LORD my uncreated Creator. Life is like
a spearman correlation curve, scattered diagram is allowed with meaningful
interpretation.
WHAT IS YOUR VISION, AND HOW DO YOU PLAN TO ACHIEVE THEM.
Let me start this way “when I dare to be powerful, to use my
strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important
whether I am afraid”. Audre Lorde
My vision is to become a solution to the world’s problem
especially where others had failed in the area of medicines. Although vision
without execution is hallucination-Thomas Edison this will lead us to part B of
the question on how I intend to achieve my vision;
A possibility is a hint from God. One must follow it. With
God all things are possible. Through dedication and perseverance I know it’s
possible.
WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION
My motivation is driven on the facts that we are all here to
make an impact in this life and I must do my best while it’s still day.
My motivation is
keeping the end goal in mind.
HOW HAS YOUR FAITH IN GOD HELPED IN THE PURSUIT OF YOUR
DREAMS?
“But scripture has locked up everything under the control of
sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ,
might be given to those who believe. Galatians 3:22.
Faith and dreams are two unseen things but faith is more of
believe than dreams but that which is important is that both are unseen. My
faith in God has helped me a lot of times without number. Not believing in God
makes a man foolish by way of implication a man’s faith to God earns him wisdom
to achieve his dreams.
WHAT CAN YOU SAY TO SOMEBODY WHO IS HANDLING A TOUGH BLOW
AND SEEMS LIKE ALL HOPE IS LOST?
What I have to tell them is this “things can and will go
wrong in life” be honest with yourself, never give up because life is too short
to give up on, eternity is everlasting so see life as a preparation for
eternity. If that is how you view life then you will never give up. Be courageous
in all your ways mind you it’s only those that overcome that will be given a
crown of victory not those that gave up.
HOW CAN A YOUTH STAY PURE IN RELATIONSHIP WITHOUT DEFILING
HIM OR HERSLELF IN THIS ERA OF SOCIAL MEDIA?
The problem with many youth today is compromise, everybody
want to do what pleases him or her without been guided. My message is this that
if you fail to have a coach in your life very soon you will be reduce to
cockroach.
One can stay pure with meditating on the world of God-Joshua
1:8; this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all
that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then
thou shalt have good success.
As a youth you have no basis to be stagnant, it’s only the
elderly that stay in a place that’s why the bible says in the book of 2 timothy
2:22 “so flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and
peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 1 Corinthians
6: 18 “flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside
the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body”
Let he who has ears hear what the Lord is saying.
WHERE DO YOU SEE GIDEON EJIKA IN 10 YEARS TIME IF CHRIST TARRIES?
Lets leave that for now but will be in my father’s house
doing His business.
HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED?
I want to be remembered for good. A good name is more desirable than great
riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Proverbs 22:1
TELL US THAT ONE THING NOBODY KNOWS ABOUTH YOU
Laugh, if I tell you now it’s no longer a secret. I was born
out of wedlock
Thanks. You are welcome.
